Where To Stay In Brighton
Although there has been a settlement at Brighton since before the Domesday Book was published it was until the 18th Century that it became popular. It was the railway link that arrived in 1841 that meant Londoners started to use Brighton as a day trip destination. Once people discovered what the town had to offer on a day trip, they started to stay here for longer periods. Today the draw of what Brighton has to offer is still drawing people from not just around the UK but around the world to visit it.
Which means there are plenty of places to stay to choose from. Anything from large conference hotels, through boutique hotels and plenty of smaller, family run, establishments. All offering good quality accommodation which can meet anyone’s requirements and which won’t break the bank for many. Below we look at just some of the accommodation available in this seaside resort today.
1. Ambassador – This is a 4 Star B&B located in the centre of Brighton in New Steine and is situated just a few minutes’ walk from the beach and all that this seaside resort has to offer. It was originally a townhouse but was converted some time ago into accommodation for paying guests but the rooms are well appointed and comfortable.
2. Marine View Hotel – Another hotel that is centrally located in this seaside resort and its rooms look out over Garden Square, Brighton Pier and the English Channel. Again the rooms are very stylish and meet all the standards you’d expect from a modern hotel.
3. The Grand – Probably the most famous Brighton hotel and is prominently located on Brighton’s seafront. The hotel is associated with luxury accommodation and is very stylish. It was first opened in 1864 and has been a popular hotel ever since.
The hotel hit the news in 1984 when it was subject to a failed assasination attempt on Margaret Thatcher. Although severely damaged by the bomb blast it was restored to its former glory and it opened again in 1986. It was during this time that many modern features were incorporated into the hotels layout.
4. Cecil House Hotel – Although not on the same sort of scale as The Grand, this hotel does offer friendly and affordable accommodation. It looks out over Brighton’s West Pier and you are just a short walk away from Pebble Beach. All rooms have en-suite facilities and 8 of the rooms look out towards the sea whilst the others have a view of a hidden French church in Brighton’s back streets.
5. Sea Spray – If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Brighton in order to celebrate a special occasion or to just give yourself a well earned break then this is the hotel worth considering. This is the town’s leading luxury themed boutique hotel where the rooms are designed with opulence and decadence in mind. As you’d expect from its name, it is located on the seafront and has views of the pier and the ocean.
